Fairmont El San Juan Hotel launches Cultural Canvas, An Art Series of Puerto Rican Expressions

Fairmont El San Juan Hotel transforms into a legendary art gallery to launch ‘Cultural Canvas,’ an art series of Puerto Rican expressions, this coming Thursday, May 2 at The Lobby starting at 7:00 p.m., in celebration of the first event of this series. In this way, the hotel reaffirms once again its commitment as a sponsor of the arts in its continued support of Puerto Rican talent.

Previously, galleries and museums served as the primary space for artists to show their work, but more hotels are now working to support up-and-coming talent. Displaying the work of artists creates a sense of place and helps guests connect with the hotel on a deeper level.

In Cultural Canvas, The Lobby will be decorated with the works of outstanding Puerto Rican artists Sofía Maldonado Suárez Juan Carlos Amador and Quintín Rivera Toro, along with muralists Bik Ismo, Rafique and David Zayas. During the event, the artists’ works will be on display, then moved and highlighted in the meeting spaces for a period of two months, offering guests and visitors the opportunity to appreciate and enjoy these artistic expressions during an extended stay.

‘At Fairmont El San Juan Hotel we recognize the importance of supporting local art, which is an integral part of our identity. Since the hotel’s beginnings in 1958, we have been a strong supporter of various artistic endeavours, such as music and fashion,’ said José Padín, general manager of the hotel. ‘It is a great privilege for us to inaugurate this series of cultural events, presenting the talent of these outstanding Puerto Rican artists. We are committed to continue being a place where art is promoted and celebrated,’ added Adriana Martinez, Associate Director of Marketing.

The art will be available in a virtual gallery accessible by QR code where you can learn more about them and have the opportunity to purchase them. The iconic The Lobby celebrates this launch in style with entertainment, DJ and live band, as well as cocktails by expert mixologists.

Fairmont el San Juan Hotel has redefined hospitality for decades, breaking the norms of traditional luxury and the launch of the Cultural Canvas will be no different.
