Our Commitment to Isla Verde Beach and Ocean Conservation

At Fairmont El San Juan Hotel, the ocean is more than a beautiful backdrop—it is part of our identity. Located along the shores of award-winning Isla Verde Beach, we are privileged to be deeply connected to Puerto Rico’s coastline and the vibrant marine environment that defines our destination.

Protecting the waters, beaches, and ecosystems that shape both our community and the experiences we create for our guests is an ongoing commitment. As stewards of one of Puerto Rico’s most iconic beachfront destinations, we are dedicated to supporting initiatives that help preserve the natural beauty of Isla Verde Beach and the surrounding marine environment through education, community partnerships, and conservation efforts.

One example of this commitment was Cultural Canvas: Ocean Edition, an immersive evening that brought together local artists, photographers, conservation advocates, and the community to celebrate the beauty of the marine world through art, music, and storytelling.

In collaboration with Scuba Dogs Society, the event helped raise awareness about efforts to protect Puerto Rico’s coastal and marine ecosystems. The evening featured ocean-inspired works by Puerto Rican artists Andy Nales, Chris Soto, Ekosaurio, Ektor Rivera, Gavo Netti, Giovan Guzmán, Jean Paul Polo, Magali Márquez, Reynaldo Molina, Roberto López, Rocío Delgado, and Sofía Maldonado, offering a powerful reminder of the wonder and fragility of life beneath the waves.

Our Food & Beverage team also crafted a special signature cocktail in support of Scuba Dogs Society: the Océano Martini. With its vibrant blue hue and refreshing blend of Don Q Coconut, Blue Curaçao, fresh lime juice, and muddled cucumber, the cocktail was inspired by the colors of the Caribbean Sea. Served in a chilled martini glass and garnished with dehydrated pineapple, the Océano Martini helped raise funds to support Scuba Dogs Society’s conservation efforts.
